Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): 2 cycle leaf blower, air gap, leaf blower

Question
I have a Poulan Leaf blower that will start once in a while and when shut off will not start again.Had spark but changed plug anyway.no difference.Checked air gap on coil and reset to .012 had spark but no start.removed carb and pushed prime bulb and see no fuel running out. Should fuel come out thru carb when bulb is pumped? This engine will start once in a blue moon which seems odd. not depenbable. Any suggestions would be appreciated ! Thanks

Answer
The primer on these handheld units only primes the carburetor with fuel, it should not push fuel into the carburetor throat. These poulan units are very sensitive to old fuel, and have a high probability of carbon building up on the piston and causing the ring to stick. Without taking the engine apart, I would try purchasing some SEA FOAM or DEEP CREEP and pouring or spraying it into the cylinder and allow it to soak in for some time and see if this helps.
