Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): Craftsman tractor w/Kohler 16hp engine will not start, w kohler, 43519

Tractor was starting and would run for 30 seconds and then shut off. I replaced plug & gas filter and drained and refilled the gas. Now it doesn't start at all. Also, when I attempt to start, gas pours out the front manifold. It was pushing out some gas prior on start up but once it started there was no leak. Also, just prior to these problems, the brake rod no longer engages. That's the rod to the lower right which used to engage with the clutch/brake pushed down. It seems as though I am unable to pull it out enough to engage the lip to lock. The battery is about 5 years old but was taking a charge. Will probably replace that as anyway but not sure if that's it. I was told it might be the ignition module. Main concern though besides the non start is the gas pushing out the front on start up. Can't seem to see where exactly its coming from. Also, the under the seat safety switch is lose... not sure if that's the problem. I take it that I can disconnect that to bypass to see if that's the problem? Any help would be sincerely appreciated.

You have dirt in the carburetor you will need to rebuild it. You may also want to check the fuel cap it may not be venting loosen the cap and start the engine see what that does,if that doesn't help then you have dirt in the carburetor passageways.As far as fuel pouring out of the exhaust manifold check to make sure the oil is not over filled that will cause this problem. it is a easy mistake to make so check that also.You may want to check the safety switches as far as the seat switch being loose that is normal. You can by pass each one just leave the switches by passed until the engine starts then reconnect them back one at a time you will find the bad switch then.here is the carb repair kit number.
12 757 02-S make sure you install new gaskets also
