Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): solenoid on mtd yardmachine, batt cable, yardmachine

Question
i purchased a lawnmower with the solenoid already off. didn't think it would be very hard to install. the solenoid has to reg. post and a clip on.i do know where the clip on goes. the positive batt. cable has a leg on it that i assume goes to one post on solenoid. then there is a little green wire that i have no idea where it goes. then ther is another wire beside the batt. gnd. any help would be appreaciated.     charles

Answer
Usually any green wires are a ground, I will explain what a usual mtd would be wired. Most have two large studs and two small or one small stud or spade . The positive battery lead goes to one post and should have a small wire with it which goes to the ignition, the other large stud has the wire to the starter on it. The small spade or stud should probably have a yellow wire on it. The green one usually goes to the bolt which holds the soleniod on the frame
