Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): deere 345 no spark, but coils hot, key off, model numbers, ipl

Question
Have a FD611D 20hp Kawasaki in a Deere 345 tractor. No spark. Went through the procedures in the service manual for no spark, but this did not turn up anything. Interestingly, I found that there is voltage at the connections at the bottom of the coils even though the key is off. This is not so on my other Deere 345. Any suggestions as to what is going on here?

Answer
Hello Neil:

>>From your Description it Sounds like the Ign Switch is Shorted and Requires Replacing or there is a Short in the Wiring.
>>There should be No Power to the Coil when the Ign Switch is in the Off Poition.
>>This Unit should have a FD601V or a FD611V Engine.
>>Usually the Ign Switch has Shorted when this Problem Occurs.
