Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): HONDA GX670, pdf manuals, multimeter

Question
The engine is not recharging the battery.  It has a new charge coil and rectifyer on it.  Do you need to pop voltage to the ne rectifyer at install time or not?  And there was no way of indicating which wire the charge coil wires went to, or does it matter?

Answer
Based on the schematic from this link below, it looks like the two green wires are AC from the charging coil and the white wire it the battery charging wire.

Do you have a multimeter to check the DC charging volts?
