Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): Cub Cadet SR 621 wont start, cub cadet, spark plug

Question
I bought a Cub Cadet at a garage sale 2 months ago, and have been very happy with the mower.  UNTIL, I go to start it yesterday and it doesn't start. I tried again today thinking maybe I had flooded the engine, but the same thing.  There is no sign of the engine starting at all.  I replaced the spark plug also, and still no luck.  Any thoughts on what I should try next?  FJ180V-AS04.  Appreciate any help.

Answer
Kawasaki has one of the least troublesome engines, so I would bet the problem is something simple. I would check the fuel shutoff solenoid on the carburetor. It should click when turning the iginition from off to on. Was the spark plug wet when you removed and replaced it? There are many things it could be, but the diagnosis may be beyond your expertise. If you remove the spark plug and ground it against a metal part of the engine and turn the engine over and observe if there is a spark. If the spark plug is dry and the solenoid is working, and there is a fuel pump, take the line loose to the carburetor, turn the engine over and see if fuel comes out. This should help you get started.
