Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): Cub Cadet 1042 LTX Misses and stalls with blades engaged, cub cadet 1042, kohler engine

Question
have a cub cadet ltx 1042 with a 19 hp Kohler engine with about 102 hours on it.
I just changed the drive belt.
Mower runs fine without the blades engaged.  After I engage the blades it seems to run fine but if I go up a small incline or turn, the engine begins to cut out and finally stalls out completely. I also backfired. Could I have done something when I changed the drive belt or does it sound like it is not getting fuel or something else altogether.  Thanks.

Answer
If you propped the mower up to put the belt on you may have had oil go up to the carburetor and get in the air filter. If this happened, it probably smoked when you started it. You also may have debris in the carburetor bowl that is floating around causing this. I suggest checking the carburetor.
