Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): Clutch Cable for Poulan Pro, john deere store, riding lawn mower

Question
Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): Clutch Cable for Poulan Pro, john deere store, riding lawn mower
Model Number
I bought a Poulan Pro riding lawn mower from the Little Rock Air Force Base about two years ago. I have been very happy with it except for one thing. About a month after getting it, the blade engage cable somehow got caught on the drive belt and was shredded. I called Poulan to ask for a part number to take to the local lawn and power store. They said they had never heard of my 46" poulan riding mower. That they had never made one. I didn't know what to think. So I went to a john deere store a couple counties over and got what they told me would work for my model. It was about a foot short. They instructions said it was only for a 42" model. I was able to jerry-rig the mower to start with the blades engaged without a cable. Now a year later, I believe that this might be taking a toll on the ignition system and would like to fix it. I went to a different lawn and power store where I was told that the cable would work for 42-48" decks and that this model was made by Craftsmen, although he had never heard of a 46" poulan. They then gave me the same cable I already had. I am trying to get someone to help me, and no one seems to know what to do with it. Around here, it will take about 6 months to get your lawn mower serviced or looked at. Please help. In case the attached image is too blurry, the model number is PB195H46YT. I would like to know where I can get a part or if I am doing something wrong. The original cable was at least 8" longer than these replacement ones.

Answer
Lots of site found with your model number.  This link is the parts diagram:

The site says this is the part number, 408714 Cable Clutch Manual w/Spr.

As for the manufacture, Sears does not have or make any of their own products, including appliances, tools or lawn equipment.  Sears contracts with various manufactures.  To my knowledge Poulan still manufactures their own equipment but the company is some how tied with Electolux.  The same mower, made by Poulan, is sold under other brands such as Southern States, probalby Sears, and who knows what other names.  Often time these other companies will contract for different paint schemes but that's about the only difference.

Sometimes the part number is printed on the part.  Let me know if you can find the part number on the cable you currently have.
