Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): craftsman mulcher 6.5 hp eager 1 8264v, tecumseh carburetor, bulb syringe

Question
to start with the primer bulb had rotted on my mower so i pulled it off and to see if that was the problem we used a bulb syringe and duct tape to get suction.  Well the gas tank, which is full was still not feeding gas to the combustion chamber.  So i took off the air filter and fed gas using a syringe straight into the chamber and the mower started for about 10 sec or so and then stopped, this repeated multiple times.  So i bought round metal plummer's clamps and tightened the connection between the line running from the tank to the carburetor and then the same thing happened.  Can you give me any advice??

Answer
If the primer bulb rotted off then odds are all the fuel line needs to be replaced and the carburetor overhauled since the rubber parts are made of similar material.  If the mower runs then you know the compression, ignition and timing are fine so this leaves only the carb.

Have you checked You Tube for Sears or Tecumseh carburetor rebuiding/overhaul or cleaning?

TIP:  Before removing carb take digital pictures of the connecting line and other part so you know how to re-connect and re-asseble.

This link is alos helpful for carburetor rebuilding:

Do you have an air compressor and a few hand tools to rebuild the carb?
