QUESTION: Eric, i have a craftsman 6.25hp self propelled gas lawnmower.it just doesn't seem to be pulling like it use to.the right front wheel is turning, but the left front wheel dosen't seem to be pulling like the right front wheel,is there a problem ?

ANSWER: Have you removed the left wheel to see if the drive gear teath are wore?  What is the Craftman model number?  You will find the model number on a sticker, about the size of a business card, and the model number format will be similar to xxx.xxxxxx.

Let me know the model number so I can check to see if any common drive problems with your machine.

The most common problems with your mower's drive system is the wheels wearing out and the drive pawl sticking.  The only fix for the wheels is to replace them.  As for the drive pawl, a small pin, you can remove the drive pinion gear and make sure the pin moves freely.  If it is dirty or rusted you should be able to remove the pin and clean with sandpaper or steal wool.  Don't forget to clean the axle hole where the drive pawl goes through as well.
