Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): repower snapper walk behind, briggs and stratten, universal replacement

Question
have a wisconsin robins 2cycle 4hp commercial snapper.  Snapper/briggs engine division told me that Briggs and stratten 10T802-0015 (7/8 opening 3-5/32 shaft, tapped 3/8  w/3/16 key, starter is at 6 and a 3-bolt mount) is a current replacement.

I would rather not put a briggs on the machine; I like Honda.  Either the GCV160 A1A or gvc190 would be great.  the A1A appears to be a right hand pull start while the old robins was a left hand.  I like right hand.

I was told only the Briggs would fit on that deck yet I read the gcv160 a1a is a universal replacement for snapper.

WILL IT WORK without anymore alterations that the pulley and belt?

Will another engine be a better candidate.

Answer
I understand your position here.  But from what I can tell, the Briggs is going to be your only "drop in" replacement.

There is usually always some modifications that need to be done when repowering one engine with another when they are different brands
