Questionso i have a 15.5 hp Briggs on a craftsman rider. it turns hard and wont fire, until i remove the spark plug, then it spins awesome, and the plug has spark when removed. i removed the exhaust system, and checked the valve clearance. still nothing. the battery is good. the starter seams to be working fine. its like it has to much compression. i am lost, can you help?

Many horizontal shaft, overhead valve engines have these numbers stamped into the OHV rocker cover. However, on certain overhead valve powered generators, the equipment manufacturer installs a decorative chrome rocker cover OVER the Briggs cover. If your engine has a decorative cover, it may be necessary to remove it in order to locate the Model, Type, and Code.
