Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): riding lawnmower dying, engine model, valve cover

The engine on my Troy-Built riding lawnmower starts and runs, but when you put it in drive 5 minutes later my gas pedal becomes soft and the engine dies a minute later. Can you please let me know what I need to do to fix this problem

What is the model number of your mower?  The model number is located on a sticker, about the size of a business card, usually located under the rear seat.  The model number format will be something similar to xxx-xxxxx.

The engine model number,type and code/serial number will is located on the engine.  The model number will either be stamped on metal cover, sometimes the valve cover, or the engine information may be on a sticker on the engine.
