WHEN I ENGAGE THE PTO THE ENGINE SHUTS DOWN. I HAVE PUT THE TRACTOR UP ON RAMPS TO CHECK THE SPINDLES & BLADES FOR OBSTRUCTIONS & CHECKED THE PULLEYS ON TOP OF THE DECK AS WELL I HAVE NOT FOUND ANYTHING.

I would check all of your safety switches.
Most models will shut the engine off if it senses that the seat is empty, when the transmission is placed in reverse.
Let me know what you find out and we will go from there.
