Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): Agway lawn tractor, spec numbers, model numbers

Question
I have a 12hp Agway Riding Mower. I was giving my 5 year old daughter around the yard with the blades off, started to smell rubber burning or similar. The brake/clutch began to slip, now it will not engage the drive forward or reverse. It is only 6 yrs old. Is this a serious problem?

Answer
Hello Matt:

>>From your Description it Sounds like an Idler Pulley has Frozen and Burnt the Ground Drive Belt.
>>Remove the Spark Plug and then Remove the Cutter Deck.
>>Now with Assistance, Block the Front of the Mower so you can Safely Lie Under the Mower and Inspect the Idler Pulley/s for the Ground Drive.
>>The Idler Pulley/s should Turn Freely.
>>Send me the Model and Type or Spec Numbers Off the Engine and the Unit/Mower Model Numbers, Please. With these I can Locate the Proper Manual and Better Assist you. The Engine Model Numbers May be Stamped Into the Blower Housing (metal engine cover) Above the Spark Plug. The Unit/Mower Model Numbers are Usually Located Under the Seat on a Sticker on the Body of the Mower.
>>If you Hit a Snag or this Does Not Correct the Problem,  I Hope to be Here if You Require More Assistance. Hope this Helps. Let me Know What Happens, Please. May the All Mighty Bless You and Yours. Be Safe and Happy. Thanks.

Good Luck
