Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): 2009 Cub Cadet, kohler engine, cylinder wall

Question
I bought a Cub Cadet riding last year. It has a 20 hp Kohler engine. The problem is, It will not start without a shot of starting fluid. It started this problem at the begining of this mowing season. I have checked the air filter, spark plug, fresh fuel, oil level, checked for trash or water in the carb. bowl. The engine runs great once I squirt a tiny amount of starting fluid in it but it will not start on its own. Any ideas? Thanks for any advice you can give. Jason

Answer
it sounds like your choke isn't working right.
Make sure to check all your linkages going to the choke.
Since it is so new I would reccomend taking it to the dealership and let them look at it.
I would say this would be a cheap fix and you'll have the peace of mind that it is fixed right.
And if it does it again you can take it back and it will be on them.
Let me know what you find out.
I do not reccomend to much starting fluid as this will clean the oil from the cylinder wall.
Don't tell the deaslership you used starting fluid.
If you would please rate my answer, Thanks
