Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): craftsman lawn tractor model 917.270940, craftsman lawn tractor, briggs and stratton

Question
my lawn tractor will not start. I have Briggs and Stratton engine model 461707 type 0145-E3. It has carburetor no. 692815. I have cleaned the carburetor and rebuilt the fuel pump. the gas line is clear all the way back to the tank. it will start if I pour gas down carburetor, but it will not pump gas into the carb. the float is clear and all passages seem to be clear as well.I wonder if I put the pump parts  in correctly I followed the schmatic given to me by the parts dealer and also changing positions but nothing seems to work. HELP

Answer
Alex,

I answered a similar question yesterday.  See HUSKEE MOWER WONT START..

I think you have your vacuum and carb hoses switched around.  Here is a copy and paste from yesterdays answer...

"When you say it doesn't pump fuel to the carb-do you mean it wont pump any out of the fuel pump?  Do you have your lines switched?  Its easy to do... make sure the vacuum line is not attached to the fuel outlet port.

What is the part number of the fuel pump kit you purchased?  It should be part number 393397.  Yes it only has one large spring in it and two small springs.

In closing... make sure your lines are connected properly.  I say this because I too have been where you are at!  "
