Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): Kohler wont start, kohler engine, new spark

Question
I asked a question the other day about my Kohler engine Model CV15S that won't start after sitting up all Winter. It just keeps flooding out of the exhaust and carburetor and it is getting fire. Your expert Ben told me to try putting a kit in the carburetor.
So I put a new carburetor, new spark plug, and a new in line fuel filter. It still is flooding and will not start. I pulled the plug out and turned it over it has compression. Please can you help? and can you send me a book with a break down on the engine?

Answer
I am a little confused by your question..."So I put a new carburetor"  Did you replace the carburetor or just the kit?

If you replaced the carb there should be no reason for the carb to still be flooding, but get back to me with a followup if this is the case..

If you repaired the carb with a kit, did you clean the seat?  The seat is under the float, it is where the needle sits and allows fuel to flow and stop flowing into the carb.

Do you have a heavy float?  shake your float, do u hear fluid inside?  if so it will need to be replaced.

What you have experienced is EXACTLY why many shops will simply replace the carb instead of repair them due to the high labor cost...Why spend 1 hour to clean and repair a carb at 75 bucks an hour only to find out the carb repair didn't work and now you have to replace it anyway...try billing a customer 100 bucks to replace a 50.00 carb!

Please send me a followup and let me know what you find..

Don't get frustrated...I know its easy when things like this don't go right, but hang in there!
