Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): parts diagram, list for jc penny sold Murray riding mower, briggs and stratton, toronto ontario canada

Question
I am looking for parts diagram, parts list for a Mower manufactured by Murray, sold under JC Penny name. Model # 850-0290 7-35500X25, with date of manufacture: 3-096.  I presume it was manufactured in 96, don't know for sure, bought used in an estate sale.  First of all I need to know what exact belt it takes from the motor to deck as one on it broke and local dealer cannot find what it uses, sold me one similar and it rubs on guides and kicks off of pulleys.  Please any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks,  Jim

Answer
Hello Jim:

>>From your Description it Sounds like the Belt you Purchased was the Wrong Width.
>>Usually these Mowers Used a 3/8" or a 1/2" Width Belt.
>>It should be No Problem Down Sizing the New Belt. Simply go to a Smaller Width Belt. Your Local Small Engine Service Center or Auto Parts Retailer (an Industrial Belt if from an Auto Parts Dealer) can Assist you in Getting the Correct Width Belt.
>>Measure the Width of the Pulley and it should give you the Correct Width.
>>The Belt should Rest Just Even to 1/16" Below the Lip of the Pulley.
>>JC Penny Mowers were Manufactured by Both MTD and Murray.
>>For Murray, you May have More Trouble. You will Need to Contact Briggs and Stratton (414-259-5333). They Purchased the Old Murray Company and are Incorporating the Parts Into their System.
>>You can Contact the People at this Site Addy and they can Assist you Better than Anyone I Know of. They have Access to a Large Inventory of Murray Parts and Manuals for the Older Model Murray Mowers.
>>You can Use the Site Addys at this Site Addy; http://www.partsandservice.com/ (PartsAndService.ca Ltd. Toronto, Ontario, Canada phone: 416-491-6063) to Search and Locate New/Used Parts or for Manuals for this Unit.
>>If you Hit a Snag or this Does Not Correct the Problem,  I Hope to be Here if You Require More Assistance. Hope this Helps. Let me Know What Happens, Please. May the All Mighty Bless You and Yours. Be Safe and Happy. Thanks.

Good Luck
