Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): 1985 EZ-Go Golf Cart, internal engine components, accelerator cable

Question
Two days ago, we bought a 1985 EZ-Go Golf Cart, and it was running beautifully. It had approximately 1/8 of a tank of gas in it. Once that had run out, we refilled it with the oil ratio it suggested on the tank (1oz. per 1/10th gallon of gas). After a few minutes of running, it turned very sluggish, and slow, chugging instead of "purring". My dad believes it may have something to do with the choke switch being a little jiggly, or the accelerator cable being nearly stripped. Any suggestions? Thank you in advance.

Answer
Hello Tyler:

>>From your Description it Sounds like the Oil to Gas Ratio is Way too Rich with Oil.
>>I Spoke with EZ Go this AM and was Told that the Oil to Gas Ratio for this Unit should be 1 Gallon of Gas to 1oz of 2 Cycle Oil. I Suggest you Use 1 Gallon of Gas and Add 2oz of 2 Cycle Oil. Any More than 2oz of 2 Cycle Oil in the Gallon of Gas will cause the Problem you are having with the Engine Now.
>>A Little Extra Oil in the Gas will Help Lubricate the Internal Engine Components Better and the Engine will still Run Smoothly and have Plenty of Power.
>>You can View a Breakdown/IPL of this Engine at this Site Addy, http://www.ezgo.com/ (1-877-394-6727) and Select "Parts and Accessories" from the Top of the Page. Now Select "Buy Parts and Accessories". Now Select "Parts" in the Browse by Category Window on the Left of the Page. Now Select the Section of the Unit you Wish to View.
>>If you Hit a Snag or this Does Not Correct the Problem,  I am Here if You Require More Assistance. Hope this Helps. Let me Know What Happens, Please. May the All Mighty Bless You and Yours. Be Safe and Happy. Thanks.

Good Luck
