Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): Craftsman Tillers, shift fork, model numbers

Question
The tiller will go in neutral and partially in reverse, but will not go in forward. The tiller won't plow or pull itself. I'm not an expert on this but I'm almost sure it's in the transmission. I want to try to fix it myself and any advise is greatly appreciated. Model number is 917.294482. Thank You.
