Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): Craftsman Tractor wont shut off., lawn tractor, model numbers

Question
I have a Craftsman LT200 Lawn tractor #917.273130 with a 17hp Kolher engine.

The engine won't shut down: 1. when I turn the key off, 2.or when I leave the seat. I have not tried it, but I bet that it will start with the mower engaged. It seems that the manual and safety shut down mechanism has failed, or perhaps a broken wire is the cause.

I can order parts and do the repair, but I need some guidance of where to look for the problem.

Answer
Hello Jim:

>>From your Description it Sounds like a Wire to the Ign Coil has Broken or become Disconnected from the Ign Coil.
>>Remove the Blower Housing (metal engine cover) and Locate the Coil.
>>Check the Wire Attached to the Coil and make Sure it has a Good Connection and is Not Broken Anywhere from the Coil to the Ign Switch.
