ANSWER: Hello Hector:

>>These Model Numbers are for a Briggs and Stratton Engine.
>>You can View a Breakdown/IPL of the Engine at this Site Addy; http://www.briggsandstratton.com/maint_repair/manual_and_more/ and Enter the Model Numbers (92908) and the First 4 Type Numbers (5162) in the Appropriate Boxes and Click GO. Then Select Download PDF.
>>Go to Page 2 of 18 to View the Horizontal Recoil Starter and you can View the Vertical Recoil Starter on Page 7 of 18.
>>The Only Small Wire for these 2 Starter is Used in the Vertical Pull Recoil and is Attached to Starter Pulley (has the Starter teeth).
>>Are you sure the Wire came out of the Starter Assy?
>>What Style Starter is Used on this Engine?
>>Can you Send me a Picture of the Wire? Use the Attach an Image Feature.

wire with a loop at ea
QUESTION: Hi John,

Thank you for your mail, I have looked at the link you sent me but I could not see the wire I was asking about. I will attach a photo of the wire. Just for some information the mower is a vertical start pull. I have been searching the net for a drawing or illustration but so far no luck. Must say the mower will start without the wire but it seems as if the plastic gear does not go to home position after the first attempt of pulling the pull start cord.

Gob Bless
Hector.

ANSWER: Hello Hector:

>>I have a Vertical Pull Start Engine in the Shop and I will have a Picture taken on Monday that Shows the Spring you have and Hopefully I can Explain where and How it Attaches to the Starter Pulley.
>>I will E-mail you again on Monday with the Picture and Instructions on How to Fix this Problem.
>>Thanks.

>>Respectfully

John

QUESTION: Hi John,

Hope you have a great weekend. I was browsing the internet and found a photo. There are 3 parts on the photo. 2 of the parts in the photo I have, but can not seem to find the 3rd part what is a hardened wire in a L shape with a loop at the one end, I will make up the 3rd part. But now I need to know where they got?? I have attached a photo for reverence.
Would just like to thank you for all you efforts I this matter.

Kind Regards
hector

Answer
Hello Again Hector:

>>Sorry for the Delay. I had to Perform Upgrades to my PC and it Took a While. The PC had Not been Upgraded in More than a Year and some of the Upgrades Took a While to Download and Install. I also had my PC in Pieces for Internal Cleaning.
>>To Replace the Pulley Clip. Remove the Vertical Starter from the Engine. Turn it Upside Down and Carefully Remove the Plastic Cover from the Spring. Remove the Spring and Pulley from the Housing. The Clip Assy that has the Partial Diamond Shape is Hooked into the Grove on the Plastic Pulley. When the Plastic Pulley is Installed into the Housing the Clip Rests so the Straight Wire with 2 Loops is going up to the Area the Small Plate that Holds the Rope Roller in Place. The J Shaped Wire is Held in Place by the Small Plate.
>>I Hope this Explains the Placing of the Pulley Clip.
