Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): Snowblower Drive Belt, Simplicity, Drive Belt

Question
Simplicity Model 870 02982 Snow Blower.  It is a Briggs 7 h.p. Snow-Away, 28" clearing path.  Drive belt rides up on outer edge of drive pulley (stays on engine pulley fine) so drive will not disengage when hand lever is released - Resulting in constant drive to the wheels!!  John, any help that you can give me with this would be greatly appreciated.  I enjoy keeping this old boy in top form with your help.

Answer
Hello Bill:

>>Are you Sure the Pulleys are in Line with Each Other? If the Drive Pulley is Not in Line with the Engine Pulley, then you will have the Problem you Described.
>>Is the Belt Good? If a Nylon Cord has Broken in the Belt you will have the Problem you Described.
>>Is the Shaft the Drive Pulley is on have a Lot of Side Play in it. If Yes, then the Bearing is Allowing the Drive Pulley to Shift and is Causing the Problem you Described.
>>You can View a Breakdown of the Unit at this Site Addy, http://www.jackssmallengines.com/ and Select "Parts Look Up". Now Fill out the Information in the "Model Search Window".
>>If you Hit a Snag or this Does Not Correct the Problem,  I am Here if You Require More Assistance. Hope this Helps. Let me Know What Happens, Please. May the All Mighty Bless You and Yours. Be Safe and Happy. Thanks.

Good Luck
