Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): run without oil in mix, toro snow blower, blowers

Question
Hi John;

I did a bone headed thing today, went and got gas for my Toro snow blower and forgot to put in the oil.  It ran for about 10 minutes, then started to run "fast" and died out.  I finally realized what I did, emptied the gas put in the right mixture and I'm waiting till to cools before I start it again.  Did I trash the motor?

Answer
Most likely the engine will need to be replaced or rebuilt.  We haven't replaced or rebuilt a Toro 2 cycle engine for sometime has it has become too expensive (labor) to perform the job.  It's in the customer's best interest, quicker and more cost effective, to replace most single stage 2 cycle blowers if the blower is more than 4 years old.

How old is your machine?
