Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): JD 400 tractor with Kohler 20 hp engine, spec numbers, kansas city area

Question
QUESTION: I've had this tractor for years and now the engine, a Kohler model 532 needs an overhaul.  Compression is very low.  Over the years I've invested a lot in aux equipment (snow thrower, blade, some custom equipment for the rear PTO) and would like to have the engine rebuilt. No one seems to want to do the job.  Can you suggest how I can do the job myself or someone who can do it?

ANSWER: Well I have looked into this, and maybe the reason that these guys don't want the job is that
some of the parts are no longer available for some of these 532 kohlers. Without knowing the spec
number off the engine, I wouldn't know if all the parts needed for rebuild are available for your engine.
I really couldn't sit down and write about how to rebuild the engine, but I would be willing to rebuild it if you shipped me the engine and if all the parts are available.

Where are you?
Send me the spec numbers.

These are great running engines, and it would be a shame if this one couldn't be rebuilt.

QUESTION: I'm in the Kansas City Area.  The number on the engine tag is 53131A and is a Model K532.  A ring and valve rebuild would be great.  Thanks for the quick reply. I hope parts are still available and you are still interested.

Answer
The parts are available for this engine, but wow, get ready to rob the bank to pay for them....lol...  I would rebuild it for you, but you would have to ship it to me.
I am in Russellville AR
Before you go that far though, I would look around on ebay or something to see if you might be able to find a used or rebuilt engine to fit that unit.
This rebuild on this engine would be very costly...parts and labor...
