Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): Toro carb issues, great shape, cleaning solution

Question
Hi Fred, Here's my issue.  I have a CCR1000e from my Grandfather.  It's in great shape, always stored indoors and serviced regularly up until 5 years ago.  I now have it.  It won't start.  Installed new plug, added new 40:1 fuel.  Had carb out, cleaned out greenish muck in bottom of bowl.  Took pin and made sure everything is not plugged. Removed and cleaned out needle. It seems everything looked good besides the gunk in bowl.  Bowl is getting fuel, plug is getting spark, but is seems that the plug has no fuel on it.  Since it's electric, turning it over enough is not an issue.  If I spray starting fluid into choke it fires up a few seconds then dies.  Why is the carb not passing fuel to the cylinder?  Thanks for your help.--RP--

Answer
It sounds like that there is a varnish build up in the main jets, keeping the fuel from flowing correctly. I would take the carb back off the unit and take it to your nearest dealer and have them rebuild it. The should have the cleaning solution to get the varnish out.
