Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): troybuilt lawn tractor, model 609, input shaft

Question
I was plowing snow with my model 609 when i lost my forward gear,the tractor only has a forward neutral and reverse,i was able to drive it back to the garage in reverse and that's it.What could be the problem?Thanks

can you supply more info    ie  is the gearbox manual , or hydro  , if so what model - type
there are alot of different units put into small tractor units

but you could have a belt problem  hook up / tension problem to gearbox or you may have a problem internally in the box   and this depends greatly on the gearbox model and type
hard to narrow down down without more information

ie transmission  model and type -    peerless, tufftorq, hydrogear  just list some
is trans belt tight / loose - is belt damaged or slipping - signs of burning / slipping
is trans  pulley and input shaft turning at speed
are axle keys ok on the rear axle / wheels
