Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): yard machine 18HP-LT, safety switches, solonoid

My lawn tractor a 42inch cut yard machine (model 31H707)(type 0212E1) (code 020823ZD) will not start new battery fully charged pulled the starter applied power the starter spins.My  next thought is the solonoid,but cant find it and dont know how to test?  this model has several safety switches which i cant locate and i have no wiring diagrams.Can you give some ideas what im looking for. i can hear click coming from under the carburetor.Please let me know what you think. Thanks Ronnie

The clicking noise you hear coming from under the carb, is the fuel shut off valve. This is normal. By hearing that, you know that you have voltage on the primary system. You need to check voltage readings on the solenoid and the remote wire with the key switch in the start position as if you were trying to start the unit. This will let you know if it is the solenoid, or in the wiring before the solenoid. Back trace all your switches from there until you find the bad component.
