Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): snapper weed trimmer, snapper dealer, weed trimmer

Question
I recently bought a snapper weed eater model s31sst at a yard sale for $5.00. It has the trigger missing that pulls the throttle line but it is not locked down and the tap and go words with line in it. Do you think it would be worth getting someone to fix it up. I have found out this model was made by Poulan. I was thinking maybe a carb rebuild and the missing part might fix it if the cost is not prohibitive. There is a snapper dealer and repairman in the area. I will appreciate your opinion and recommendations. Stephen

Answer
Hi Stephen,

This is a difficult issue to answer you on without actually seeing the item.

I somehow can't get past the $5.00 price tag that you paid.

If someone was selling (almost giving it away) then possibly the machine

is only worth $5.00.

A carburetor overhaul can run you about $75 - $85 in itself.  I would be tempted to look at just getting a brand new one.

Howard
