Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): Snow Blower Spark Plugs, aluminum engine, ratched

Question
Eric -- I have a Murray snow blower (model 620301x4NB). I want to change the spark plugs, but cannot get them loose. To make sure I don't break the spark plug, which direction to I turn to loosen it. Thank You.

Answer
It is a standard thread, righty tighty, lefty loose.  If the plug is that tight it may be galled where the spark plug metal has seized to the aluminum engine head.

The only way you will find out is by removing the spark plug.  Once loose, if the spark plug turns out easy then there should not be a problem.  If you have to use a socket and ratched to turn the spak plug all the way out then you will probably find aluminum in the steel spark plug threads.

Are you just doing a tune-up?
