Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): 1970 MTD snowflite, shear bolts, shear pins

Question
QUESTION: On a 1970 mtd snowflite snowblower 2 stage it has a auger clutch that slips as soon as you hit the snow any way to repair?

ANSWER: What is the model number?  The model number is located on a sticker the size of a business card.

Are the auger shear bolts sheared?  The shear bolts are designed to break when they hit hard snow or ice.  DO NOT replace with regular bolts...use shear bolts.

Let me know the blower model number so I can look up the parts diagram.

Answer
I believe you can increase tension on the cluth plates but I have only seen one type of blower with an adjustable clutch.

I tried looking up the blower but the model is not listed.  However, you can call MTD and they can send you the manual or parts lists via email.  I recently had MTD send me a manual for an old blower...great service and a quick turn around.

Give MTD a call and see if they can send you the manual.
