Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): HM100 carb vs hm80 carb, oregon catalog, good ole days

Question
It appears that a bunch of the Tecumseh carbs are interchangeable between these two engines.

Do you know of anything to watch our for?

I have found an Oregon part number 50-655 which says its is made for both engines.  It says it replaces the 640152A on the hm100 or hm80.

Technically my carb is supposed to be a 632242. At half the price the Oregon is tempting.

In my go carting days from the late 50's we found sommething which would bolt up and we ran with it.

What do you think?

Answer
I am looking in my Oregon catalog and don't see the number you indicate listed.  (i have a 2009 catalog)

However if the application guide says it will fit, you should have no problems.

As you say, back in the good ole days....

I would not be afraid to buy and use anything out of the OREGON book.  I have used their parts for years without any problems.

Hope this Helps
