Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): snowthrower wont start, craftsman snow thrower, cold weather

Question
Craftsman snow thrower, model 536.887750.  tried to electric start for season.  Turned over vigorously, but wouldn't start.  Now when I push start button, I only get a buzz/vibration sound.  Rope start is frozen.

Answer
When you say frozen, do you mean from the cold weather?  Simply move it to a warm area to thaw it out. Recoils usually freeze after the engine is shut down after use.

If your saying "frozen" as the engine wont turn over it sounds like you may have locked your engine up. "Hydrolocked" as we call it in the shop.   Remove your spark plug and see if recoil will now work?

If this is the case, you need to drain the fuel system and refill with fresh fuel.  Old gas will not ignite.  Put fresh fuel in from the pump and you should be good to go.
