Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): Adding a light to my snowblower, adding a light, snowblower

Question
I own a MTD Snowblower, model# 317E610E000. Tecumsch # HSS5K50, 67368R. D.O.M. 6144N.

I have a light that I purchased (Blazer 120 is written on the housing)and it has two wires coming out of it. One is a short white wire that I think is the ground and the other is a long black wire with a white round piece (small)that looks like it would snap into another similiar piece. Would you be able to tell me how I would connect this light?

Answer
Do you have a light kit on your snowblower?  You will need a charging coil on your engine before you can hook a light to it.  If you have an engine that is light capable, all you do is connect the wire, should be a single light wire coming out from under the engine..

Connect to the WHITE wire.

The BLACK wire is the ground.  Hook it to a ground,  ie bolt that mounts engine to snowblower..

If you hook it up backwards it wont light, simply reverse the wires and it will work.

Hope this help...  To save yourself time, you can check the polarity with a 12 volt test light
