Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): Tecumseh Carb, correct numbers, tecumseh engine

QUESTION: What do you do when the numbers you have for a Tecumseh engine don't match up? I have an h50 65496R ser# 4185D  The carb I need is a 826-4f8  It is on an Ariens snowblower Model# 924074          ser#001386. Thanks for any help you can give me

ANSWER: Can you double check the engine model number?  Ariens website lists the engine as HSK50-65496.  I have searched several websites and can't find an H50-65496R.

How do you know you have the wrong carburetor.  Are there any numbers on the carburetor?

QUESTION: I have rechecked the numbers. What I gave you is the correct numbers on the engine and carb. Now what?

Below is the carb part number for an HSK50-65496.  The parts lists shows the carb is adjustable.  As long as the carb bolts to the engine you should be able to adjust the fuel/air mix to suit your engine.  Call you local Tecumceh dealer and see if they have the carb in stock and see if it will bolt to your engine.
