Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): Craftsman Leaf Vac 4.5 HP Tecumseh, leaf vac, tecumseh engine

I recently bought a newer Craftsman Leaf Vac 4.5 HP Tecumseh engine from a neighbor and was told it ran.  The person started it for 1 minute and it ran.  I got home and tried for 2 days to start the unit and nothing.  I tested for spark and plug is new and great spark.  I used starting fluid to start the machine and it runs, however, as soon as it runs out of starting fluid it stalls.  I am not sure what the problem is and am out $200 bucks now.  Can you please help me?  Thanks for taking the time to readthis.

Your engine is not getting fuel.  This is apparent by the fact it quits running when the starting fluid is all gone.  

you could have bad fuel?

you could have a fuel shut off that is in the off position

you could have a carb that needs to be cleaned or replaced.

These are all simple things.

The bad part.....Tecumseh is not in business anymore and parts are getting harder to find.  The people that purchased all of Tecumsehs parts, molds, etc... are called Certified Parts Corp in Janesville Wi.  the may be able to help you if needed.
