Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): Mclane 3.5hp edger, head gasket, light smoke

Hi David,

I have a Mclane 3.5hp edger and it froze.  I was edgin my lawn just fine when it started to lose power and eventually froze and light smoke started coming out.  I checked the oil and it was low.  Am i pretty much out of luck or can this be fixed?  Thank you in advance.

It most likely can be fixed, but the cost of repairs will exceed the value of the engine.  IF you do decide to fix it u will most likely need a crankshaft, con rod sump gasket, head gasket.

Do a search for your edger on this site, i helped someone with an edger replacement not to long ago.  IT was a direct bold on replacement engine
