Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): Honda H1011HS - PTO is backwards?, backround, pulley

Question
The PTO lever on my Honda Harmony H1011HS works opposite of what both the manual and the icons on the machine indicate.  I push it forward...which should be the on position for the blade...and the blade doesn't run.  I push it back toward me...which should be the off position.... and the blade engages and I can then mow without any problem.

It's not keeping me from using the mower, but am I causing damage to any of the gears, belts, etc?

Answer
Without knowing any of the backround of this mower, it is real hard to say,
as If it has been assembled backwards by someone, the saftey switches should prevent
you from even starting the mower.
Has someone been doing a lot of work on the mower?  Has this problem just started?
Or have you just bought this mower used from someone?  If so, then the saftey switches are likely also bypassed.  If it works in the way you describe, there should be no damage to anything, as the lever just moves a pulley to tighten the belt.
