Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): briggs and stratton, briggs and stratton, home depot store

Question
My Granddad/ acting father that has gone on to a better place worked on mowers his whole life. I regret that I never paid attention to it. He sharpened blades for neighbors at no cost and repaired them, not expecting a thing, but a possible conversation in return.
Anyways, I remember him cleaning carburetors in the garage in a pail. I don't think he bought any special fluid to do it. Do you know of any mix of common household items that will clean the carburetor? The kits are expensive to me, I don't have even $20 to buy it. Please let me know. The spark plug has been replaced

Thank you

Answer
I am not sure what he may have soaked them in,  some people have used a product called XYLOL many years agao, but you can go to a local home depot store, Lowes, Auto PArts Store, etc and get your self a can of spray carb cleaner with a little straw attached to the can that will work great.  The price is under 5 bucks.

youll be looking for a spray can that says Carburator Cleaner on it.   There are other cleaners available that have a "dip basket" contained in the can.  This works great too, but a lil bit more expensive.

Try the spray carb cleaner, Im sure this will help.

Best of luck to you
