Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): Date Code, murray mower, messy time

I have a murray mower and can't find out the year. The date code on the back of the mower is 0983. It's a riding mower with a 14 hp. v-twin with a 42 in cutting deck. I think i decoded the date code on the engine on a b&s website and if it is right the engine was built in 1993. If you can help it will be very helpful. Even if you can't thank you for your time.

What's the engine code number?  Some Murrays use the first number of the date code for the year and then the next three for the day it was built, but that doesn't appear to be the case with yours.  The early 90's were a messy time for Murray.  I have the Murray date code info at the shop, but I'm at home now.  Thanks, PK.
