Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): Lawnmower quits when put in gear/engage blades, briggs stratton engine, briggs stratton

Hey today I replaced the starter on my Craftsmen riding lawmower with 18.5 Briggs Stratton engine. It starts great!, but when I release the brake it wants to quit. I thought the safty switch underneath the seat was faulty, so I cut out the switch and connected the wires thinking I was completing the circuit. However it still cutting off when I put it in gear and or engaged the blades...I need help

There are multiple safety switches, seat, neutral/clutch/reverse, and blade engagement switch.

What is the mower model number?  The model number is located on a sticker under the seat or rear fenders.  Model number format is xxx.xxxxxxx or xxx-xxxxxxxx.

Did you pinch any wires when replacing the starter?  Are the any wires running behind the starter?

Let me know so I can look up you wiring diagram.
