Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): kohler engine model # CH15ST governor removal, torque values, throttle assembly

Question
I was asked to find instructions on how to remove the governor from a kohler engine, model #CH15ST, serial #3023007641, spec #44503, family YKHXS 4262GB, displ.(cc) 426, EPA category B.  Any help would be greatly appreciated.  If you require further information please let me know. Thank you.

Answer
The engine will have to come apart and the governor gear removed.  If it's not part of the balance gear on this engine, I'm not sure off-hand.

If it can be removed, then you have to have some sort of throttle control with a spring return.

To be perfectly honest, if this isn't something that a person has done before, then you're going to have to have a service manual for the engine.  That's available from many online sources.  It's pretty easy to blow an engine up if you don't know how to set-up the throttle assembly and anytime the engine has to come apart, you should have a manual so you can have the torque values if nothing else.  This forum is just too limited for me to completely explain how, or if, the governor can be removed.

However, if all you want to do is remove the rod that moves the throttle, then all you have to do is unscrew the clamp and take it off.  You will still need a throttle control with a return spring though.  Thanks, PK.
