Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): snapper belt, snapper lawn mower, set screw

Question
I have a 7hp, 6 speed, 5 year old  snapper lawn mower.  While cutting the self propel stopped working.  The belt was not spinning the pully.  I could not look under it while it was running to see if the other pully was spinning. It probably was since when I touched it, my finger was burned from the heat.

Does it sound like the belt needs to be replaced?  Is there an adjustment? It seems snug.  What is the easiest way to replace it?

Thank you for your help!

Answer
What is the Snapper model number located on the sticker on the rear of the mower?

You can use the Snapper model number and find the Owner's Manual on the Snapper website.  The manual tells how to change the belt.

I would check the engine pulley on the bottom of the mower.  Make sure to REMOVE the SPARK PLUG before working on the mower.  Also, NEVER turn the mower on it's side.  Tilt the mower by placing a heavy object on the mower handle so the spark plug hole faces up.

There is a set key and set screw on the pulley.  Once in a while the set screw will loosen and the key will fall out...rare but I have seen it.

Send me you mower model number.
