Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): 2006 Mitsubishi 6hp 188cc simonize power washer, metal shavings, simonize

Question
I have a 6hp motor its got about 35 psi compression and it leaked gas out of a hole in the top of the carb sometimes ... I had a hard time sometimes starting it as well I cleaned out the float bowl it has metal shavings in it , the oil has been changed about 120 times and has never been black it had some metal shavings in it the first 3 times ... it wont start anymore I think normal psi compression is around 60 to 90 right ?? anyways any help would be awesome THANKS

Answer
Your compression should be fine to get the engine started.  Remember that this engine has a compression release so when starting it your not getting the actual reading.

I would simply replace the carb.  It sounds like you have an obstruction or dirt in there that you just cant get cleaned out.

Another thing i am curious about, you say that the oil has been changed 120 times.  Thats a lot of use on this engine, I would also be doing some valve inspections for proper seating.

Happy tinkering
