Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): 14 hp briggs valve adjusment, overhead valve engine, hp briggs

what is the proper procedurevfor setting and adjusting the valves on a 1994 14hp briggs on my murray rider?I've read about 5 different ways on he internet to do this. What do you recommend?

I will assume this is an overhead valve engine. After removing the valve cover, rotate the engine to the compression stroke,(where both valves are closed at the same time). Take your feeler gauge and check for clearance. The intake spec is .007-.009 and the exhaust is .017-.019. That is the easiest way to do it. Hope this helps.
