Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): Problem with idling on a go kart i just bought, throttle shaft, robin subaru

Question
Hi,
We just bought a go kart for the kids today! Anyhow it was stolen out of his yard last week before we bought it, now it starts but it is idling at like half throttle and we don't know to fix it, definitely not safe for the kids.  It has a 5.0 hp Robin Subaru. Any help would be great!  Thank you!

Heather:

Lucky Kids!  On the carburetor there is a screw on top of the carb that simple needs to be backed out.  With the engine turned off press on the gas pedal and you will see the cable that pulls the throttle open.

Now with the engine still turned off, and the throttle shaft resting on the screw, turn it counter clockwise.

Simply back this screw out by turning it counter clockwise until it idles at your desired speed.   It should be somewhere in the 1750 RPM range.

As a side note here, they engine may not idle thus the reason it is set at half throttle.  IF this is the case, you may need to replace the carb.

Have fun.
