Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): Craftsman model 917270821, craftsman model, vacuum line

Question
I rebuilt the carb a week ago in which it worked fine for one mow.Now this week I tried to start it and it idled real high then cut off,I noticed the carb was spewing gas out and there is gas in my oil.I did some trouble shooting and noticed if I took the vacuum hose off the fuel pump it ran better do you have any suggestions what it may be?

Answer
The needle isn't seating for one reason or another.  The carb will need to be rebuilt again, or better yet replaced.  The vacuum line off the pump is what makes the pump work.  It's called the impulse line and without it hooked up, the pump won't pump.

Do not run this engine until the problem is fixed.  Gas in the oil is the most common cause of broken rods.  Thanks, PK.
