QUESTION: i have a murry lawn mower that has been setting up and trans. was locked up . i disassembled trans. and discovered rust has caused my problem i cleaned all the rust and starting to put back together but am having difficulty.do you know of a manual i could download or could you help me . this appears to be a timed transmission. i have rebuilt  semi truck transmissions and am master heavy truck mech. a parts breakdown would be helpful

ANSWER: What brand of transmission do you have?  The link below is for Peerless.  Foote/Dana transmissions are very similar.

No luck finding a Spicer/Foote/Dana repair manual.  I used to have a manual somewhere...misplaced it over time.

Does the Peerless manual help?  Two tips to look out for is the washers bewteen the gears...one side of the washers is beveled.

Also, the bronze bearings have a key/tab on them.  The tabs need to be lined in the lower hoursing so the upper and lower housing will mate correctly.
