Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): peerless transaxle, peerless transaxle, speed transaxle

I have a peerless 801-018 5 speed transaxle with a broken axle. (part # 774524).  I live in the Wrangle Mountains of Alaska - about 300 miles from the nearest big city or major airport.  I've contacted all the normal webparts stores and they just take my money and tell me they will let me know if they ever get one in.  I'm about 2 1/2 months away from possible snow fall.  If you or anyone else has an axle that will fit or any other solution - please let me know.  Thank you fpor your time.  Carl

I know I don't have one at the shop.  I queried all my distributor's inventories and they are all listed as no longer available.  Many transaxles could be made to fit, although I don't know how much experimenting I'd do with a new one.  But if you have any used ones available, you should be able to get one to work with no more trouble than you would spend adapting another axle to fit your transaxle, like you had mentioned in your email to us.  I wish I could give you a better answer, but Tecumseh closed their doors at the end of last year.  I believe they sold the Peerless division, to Husqvarna, (Who owns what was AYP, now called Husqvarna Outdoor Products) so maybe parts for this transaxle will be made again.  But I wouldn't hold my breath....  Thanks, PK.
